We made it!!!

Hello everyone,

We are currently sat in a cafe at our campsite in Sitges, just south of Barcelona! Not only did Bobby (our car) make it all the way to the end of the rally, he has got us all this way (2700 miles). There hasn´t even been the slightest incling of a problem (touch wood), so it looks good for Luke and Lara´s onward journey to Milan, and Luke´s to Leeds (via Dunkirk and Cardiff).

Thanks again to everyone who supported us, we are really pleased with our total, a lot of the teams we met hadn´t even made it to the 1000 mark - so THANK YOU.

We are off for our last supper together tonight, so we will fill you in with more detail when we get back to the UK.

We have reached our target!!!

Wow! We never thought we would be able to reach £1000, but thanks to everyones generosity we are now at £1071.51 with 2 days to spare - so thank you very much to everyone who has supported us :-) We will still continue to raise money...maybe we can reach the £1500 mark!?!

We are now ready to go, which we also thought was a stage we wouldn't get to as we didn't even have a car a few weeks ago! The car has been test driven and sounds perfect so we're pretty optimistic that we will make it all the way (and back for Luke). All the paperwork is filed and the warning triangles packed :-)

The raffle was drawn today, so again, thanks to everyone who bought tickets! We made over £50, so substantially increased our total. The lucky winners are:

We have had a team member drop out (Rich). However, the rally must go on! We are now at £766 so just £234 to go, hopefully we can raise this over the next 6 days!!!

Raffle!

We are finally selling tickets for the raffle! Thanks to Lara's hard work we have now been donated:

• 3 x 2 complimentary tours of the Millennium Stadium (donated by Millenium Stadium)
• 1 x George Foreman 14574 compact grill with sloped grill design - cooks up to 3 portions RRP £19.99 (donated by Co op)
• 1 x Red Wine - Montes Alpha Merlot (2006 Chile) RRP £10.99 (donated by Co op)

If we get any extra prizes, we will add these as well. Its £1 a strip, and contact any of the team for tickets. We will draw the raffle on the 24th August. The first ticket drawn gets first choice of the prizes and so on.

We have a car!!!

Hi everyone,

After much looking, we have finally found a car! Thanks to my mum and her boyfriend who found, inspected, collected and tlc'd it for us :-) As you can see, it looks pretty good, so hopefully we will make it all the way (and back!).

All we need now is to reach our £1000 target (and a few other things!). We are currently at £682, which is fantastic, so thanks again to everyone for their generosity. We hope over the next few weeks we will be able to get the last £328. Watch this space!

We now have £416 on our just giving page!!! Lara's local garage in Hay-on Wye has very, very, very kindly sponsored us £125, and another is very, very, very kindly trying to find us a car (fingers crossed). This brings the total to £541 - over half way. Finally, me and Lara collected spare change outside the Co op in Hay yesterday, we were there for a little over an hour and collected an amazing £61.46, so thanks to everyone for their generosity. Our overall total is now £602.46. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far, and shown an interest in what we are doing. We have also been donated some prizes from the Co op in Hay and the Millenium Stadium - so watch this space for a raffle :-) Thanks again!

The Sheffield Star

We were in the Sheffield Star today. Hopefully this will help us to find a car and get some more sponsorship. We are nearly a 1/4 of the way there now.

Sweep stake

Hello again!

We are now 1/5 of the way to our £1000 target, thanks to everyone who has sponsored us.

We are doing a sweep stake to help us get closer to this. We have split the route into 25km sections. Its £1 a pick, and if we break down in your section, you win £10 and a bottle of wine! All proceeds go to charity :-) If you want to try your luck, email me at charlotte.hawkins@hotmail.co.uk.

If we don't break down (fingers crossed) we will put everyone in a hat and choose a winner at random.

Good news, and bad news!

Bad news...due to unforseen circumstances, we are no longer able to use Andreas car. However, we are hopeful that we will be able to find and insure a replacement in time!

Good news...we are starting to get some interest from the press. We are in the Cardiff Echo today: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/cardiff-news/2009/07/10/two-female-engineers-from-roath-take-their-banger-across-europe-for-charity-91466-24118293/. The Sheffield Star have shown some interest, so hopefully they will print a feature for us too.

Our total is now at £185, so we are slowly getting there - thanks to everyone who has sponsored us :-)

Lara will be back down in Cardiff next week, after ages in Aberdeen. We can now get our heads together and come up with some other fundraising ideas, anyone need their car washing!?!
